Why I Created the Revenue Room (and the Psychology Behind Why It Works)

When I opened the doors to Good Company recently, there was so much great feedback on the programme.

But interestingly, a lot of the women I was chatting to had the same concern:

“I know I should be doing more business development – but it just keeps falling off my to-do list!”

Now if you know me at all, you’ll know that business development is my absolute passion. It’s been a part of my work for my entire career. I love helping women see how they can simply and easily grow their businesses, without burning out in the process.

So I created something super simple: The Revenue Room.

It’s a series of free co-working sessions for women focused purely around one thing: bringing more revenue into your business. Who doesn’t want more of that, right?! 😉

The sessions are online, free of charge, 1 hour (running 10am-11am), and you can attend as many as you like:

🗓 Thursday 12th March

🗓 Thursday 16th April

🗓 Thursday 14th May

How our free co-working sessions for women work:

  1. You join the Zoom room, full of other fab self-employed women just like yourself
  2. I’ll brief you on one clear, practical business development task in the first five minutes. It might be: following up warm leads you’ve quietly ignored, sending the invoice you’ve been avoiding, tightening up an offer that’s not selling, identifying five genuinely hot prospects already in your DMs, or creating case studies and capturing client testimonials. Nothing fluffy or theoretical, always work that moves the needle instead.
  3. You’ll then have 45 minutes to focus. Camera on or off, but head down and working. I’ll be doing the same.
  4. We come back together for the last 10 minutes to share wins.

I want Revenue Room to be a space where you build the habit of doing business development regularly, in a way that feels contained and actually really doable.

Why do co-working sessions for women actually work? (The psychology bit)

Glad you asked 😄

The co-working element isn’t just a nice idea, it’s built around the theory of body doubling. The concept is simple: when you work alongside other people, even virtually, your focus improves and procrastination drops. You actually do the thing! Think of it like a positive version of peer pressure 🤗

Research on virtual co-working consistently shows higher task completion and better engagement compared to working alone at home. One study found around a 20% improvement in task completion for people working alongside others, which is huge!

What it really comes down to is that we can get more done when we’re not on our own – when we have the added accountability and motivation of a group around us, all focused on the same task. Even when ‘together’ just means being on a Zoom, heads down, getting on with it.

And that matters especially for business development, because the hard part isn’t knowing what to do, it’s usually just starting! It’s the consistency, plus having somewhere to show up and do the damn thing.

That’s exactly what Revenue Room is.
